Description
You can finish dinner and still want dessert. You can love your life and still ask for another serving.
Appetite Without Gratitude is the November installment of Kabal Monthly (No. 05), a literary micro e-chap by Kabal Briar about hunger, fullness, pleasure, money, family, intimacy, and the embarrassment people sometimes attach to wanting anything too visibly.
Built around menus, recipes, substitutions, shared plates, grocery labels, desserts, and the evidence left on the table afterward, the collection follows appetite beyond food and into the other things people learn to request carefully.
There are needs disguised as preferences. Compliments pretended not to matter. Fries ordered โfor the table.โ A second helping nobody should have to defend.
Because fullness is not a promise. And gratitude is not the same thing as being finished.
